In March, 1994, the Gladney Center for Adoption's first internationally adopted child came home to the United States from Shanghai, China. Since that time, Gladney has placed nearly 1000 healthy infants and toddlers, and children of all ages with special needs, with families living in the United States. Over the past several years, adoption from China has emerged as an effective way to make or grow a family.

Ania Vacations In Cabo San Lucas!!!
From her parents:
I've attached a few pictures of Ania (Zeng Li Xiang) and one of our family (which didn't come out very well) at our vacation last week in Cabo San Lucas.
Ania is doing very well. She's in 2nd grade in an accelerated honors school and is also on the gymnastics team where she's competing at level 5 and really enjoys it. She's a wonderful, personable, smart, adorable little girl!
Happy Holidays!
New Year Greetings From Bethany!!!
Holiday Greetings From Florida!!!
Mom Mary writes:
Katy is five years old and she comes from Shaanxi. Molly is three years old and comes from Zhangzhou, Fujian. They are at times the best of sisters and at other times they can be as oppositional as where they hail from in China! Their personalities complement each other well and our lives have been so touched by their very being.!!

Kathryn's First Holiday Season!
We were not sure how Kathryn would react to the hustle, bustle and crowds of the holiday season. Her big brother, James, was sometimes put off by all the excitement when he was her age. But so far Kathryn LOVES it! When she sees the lights everywhere, she says "On"! In fact, when she sees our tree and the lights are off, she says "On!" :-). She also says "Pretty" when she sees the decorations. And, our little fashion plate loves all of her holiday dresses.
Yesterday we made the pilgrimage to see Santa at Macy's. Again, we were worried it might all be too much for her. But she was a brave little trooper! She loved the Santaland display, and when she first saw the Big Guy, she wanted to go right in to him. Of course when the moment actually came she got a little hesitant! But no tears, thank goodness!:-).
The pictures show Kathryn with her new Christmas stocking (she calls the reindeer a "woof-woof" because she thinks it's a dog!); Kathryn intently examining her Advent Calendar; with Mama moments before meeting Santa at Macy's Santaland; crashing in the stroller after meeting the big guy; and big brother James crashing at home by the tree!
Kathryn's holiday season will culminate with her 2nd birthday on New Year's Day!!!
Happy Holidays!

Whitney's First Big Trip Since Coming Home!
My husband, Jeff, had a business trip to London last week and we decided to tag along. We scrambled to get Whitney a US Passport and supplied every document possibly required. The process was quite easy and Whitney can now travel anywhere in the world. The flights were so short compared to China and Whitney slept almost the entire time! She was an absolute trooper and adjusted remarkably well to the time change, long walks around London, many meals in restaurants...However, Whitney did not care for the guards in front of Buckingham Palace. Note the look of pure terror on her sweet face. We even made it to Harrods for the requisite Santa picture! Next month, we are off to Telluride for some skiing and then back to Europe in the summer. Whitney will be a very experienced traveler by the time we all return to China to pick up her sister!
