BBC Reports from DEYANG

• 2,648 dead and hundreds still buried
• Many of the dead were school children - at least six schools collapsed in the earthquake
At Yinghua Middle School in Deyang, 12 children have been pulled out alive. Zhao Xiuling of the armed police rescue force told China's CCTV that the children on the top floor of the school are safe at the moment because the upper part of the building was still standing.
"We can hear the kids are still shouting on the ground floor; our people are endeavouring to move the upper part of the building so we can save the kids," Mr Zhao said.
